She is the wife of Darryl Dean Begay who thought her the tufa-casting method. They and their youngest son regularly collaborate when crafting jewelry and have won numerous awards for their work. Rebecca was the 2006 recipient of the Goodman Fellowship Award from Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe and received a 2008 SWAIA Fellowship.
